Designer Diaries: Drape, Cut Sew

Transformation is taking place! If you’ve been wondering when the next post would arise, today is the day! I have been hard at work with a very busy work schedule, sewing schedule, and social schedule! August is always a crazy time. I’m still working away on the collection, piece by piece! At this point, I’m working to get each piece as close to finished as possible for fittings. The struggle is to make the garment as complete as possible, but leaving it as unfinished as necessary in order to make easy alterations after fittings. That means I wait to put on waistbands, topstitching, zippers/closures until AFTER I’ve checked the fit on each model. In this video diary entry, you will get a small glimpse of the cut and sew process. I will begin by draping a skirt, then you’ll see me cut it out and begin sewing it together.

This is the point in the process that gets very exciting and yet exhausting at the same time. I have all of the designs planned, fabric and trims ready to use, many patterns made, now I’m executing the plan. Sometimes, designs change along the way, based on what looks best or is sew-friendly. This is the process where I can begin getting excited about what the collection will look like in reality. I can tell you that I'm super pumped about the color and pattern story this season. Can't wait for you to see what's taking shape! Have a look and be sure to comment, like and share! Thanks again for watching!

Romans 12: Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Corinthians 3:18 And we all, with unveiled faces reflecting the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another, which is from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
